Don't Call It A Baby Bell

from the all-growns-up dept

A good article in Fortune looking at “Baby Bell” Verizon, and its plans for the future. Verizon got off to a bit of a rocky start with the merger of Bell Atlantic and GTE causing all sorts of service problems (a worker strike didn’t help), but now they’re bouncing back, and they could be the most dangerous telecom company out there (to other telecoms). They’re also making quite a big bet on wireless. The story talks about their co-CEOs and how the relationship is working out. It’s interesting that one of the CEOs has worked at a Bell company all his life, starting as a cable splicer’s assistant. Talk about a career path…
