Marketing Masquerading As Entertainment

from the sneaky-bastards dept

Apparently as things get worse and worse for dot coms, they’re working on more and more creative (or devious, depending on your point of reference) ways to market their sites. Some are creating entertaining sites they think will be viral, and sending them around. The article details one stunt like this done by the UK’s lastminute.com, where they had a bunch of employees send a URL out to all their friends and contacts – but not from their work account. Personally, I think if you’re that desperate that you need to drum up support in such a way, you’re probably in more trouble than a little entertaining website will get you out of.
