Chatting With A Database

from the applications-on-IM dept

Watch out for the next big buzzword area: person-to-machine instant messaging. That’s right. It’s now becoming popular to use instant messaging as a platform for applications. The idea is that instant messaging can be a platform to quickly get specific information – since browsing the web for information is seen as slow. It’s an interesting concept, and I get the feeling that we may be seeing a lot more buzz about P2M before any actually useful apps show up. Thank goodness it’s tough to get funding these days or suddenly everyone would be talking up their P2M solution.
