Big Media Vs. Freelancers Goes To The Supreme Court

from the who-owns-what? dept

A good summary in the NY Times (despite the fact that they’re involved in this lawsuit) about a case going to the Supreme Court about who owns the rights to articles written by freelancers. Big media companies have been selling digital archives which include the freelancers’ works, but the freelancers don’t get any money for it. Some people are wondering if the results of this case will set a precendent for future “digital copyright” cases that are sure to start popping up with more frequency.
