Will The Real Geek TV Please Stand Up?
from the hollywood-vs.-real-geeks dept
An article in Salon looks at Hollywood attempts at putting geeks on TV versus other attempts. The argument is that Hollywood doesn’t really get geeks, and the best geek shows out there are BattleBots and Junkyard Wars. Of course, they also mention Freaks & Geeks – which was a Hollywood production, even if it did get killed off quickly.

Not Hollywood
neither of the programs you mention are US spawned – they both originate in the UK, even though US TV has picked them up.
Re: Not Hollywood
Right. That was the point. Hollywood doesn’t get geeks… so the best “geek” TV is not from Hollywood… Sorry if I didn’t make that clear in the post.
tf.n digital - a Star Wars Video News Show
Someone in New York apparently gets geeks and is doing a biweekly Star Wars Video News Show on the web. They just got mentioned in USATODAY.com and have been pushing the barriers in delivering the end user what they want.
