Companies Don't Want To Buy Online

from the it's-all-about-relationships dept

Bad news for the B2B companies. It seems that most businesses don’t really want to buy online. For many companies a lot of their business is about relationships, and pissing off their partners by switching to an online system that looks for the lowest bidder doesn’t seem worthwhile. Other companies just think it’s too different, and are happy with the way things are. Of course, if companies start saving a ton of money and beating the competition by using online marketplaces, these things might change. But that only works if enough people are using the marketplaces, and if those marketplaces actually stay in business. This other article suggests that these very market forces may be driving many of these B2B exchanges out of business.
