MSN To Charge For Portal Access?

from the different-business-models dept

Apparently MSN is thinking about charging people to access their content. A lot of content sites have been talking about this recently, but it would be interesting to see if it actually worked. Most past attempts failed (including Microsoft’s Slate). Also, since there are plenty of portal competitors that offer the same basic stuff, there’s not much reason to stick around. Of course, there’s always the possibility that everyone will follow MSNs lead and start charging – but that would just open the door for someone else to come along and offer a free portal again.
