Bertelsmann Working On Sneaky Alternative In Case Napster Is Shut Down

from the oh-those-sneaky-companies dept

Another file trading program was being tested recently. The difference, however, is that apparently, the program is secretly owned by Bertelsmann. A German trade paper did a little sleuthing and came up with the connections. Of course, Bertelsmann has a huge investment in Napster – but if Napster goes away, I guess they’re getting ready their backup options. Update: News.com has more details on the story. It sounds as though they were testing this other company even before they made the Napster investment, but have since shut it down.
