Forget Hackers – Beware Of Idiots

from the saying-it-like-it-is dept

A nice summary of the problems this week that hit both Microsoft and Travelocity. While many companies are afraid of what hackers can do to them, they should also be worried about their own idiots messing things up. Of course, in Microsoft’s case, the hackers followed the idiots to make matters worse.

It is wise advice for companies to contract out their more difficult tasks… this way they can pick an choose whom to hire/fire, in an almost darwinian fashion. A good NDA/NCA (non-disclosure/non-compete agreement) can go a long way towards eliminating any concerns about non-franchised employees taking core knowledge elsewhere. The days of not punishing those who fsck up with the hope that they’ll learn something and somehow contribute to the quality control process (AKA the Demming process) are long gone. Either get it right the first time and earn your $120/hr, or pack your cardboard box and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out you stupid, lazy m*th$rf@ck^r.

Am I right, or am I right… thought so.
