Racketeer Caught Using Keystroke Data

from the caught! dept

A racketeer in NJ was caught by the FBI by recording all the keystrokes on his computer. Some folks are now questioning whether or not his privacy rights were violated, and if this means that the FBI will start doing this to a lot more people. I think it’s definitely questionable, though part of me feels that this is similar to a wiretap – and if the proper warrants have been served, then I can see why it would be okay. However, the privacy freak in me thinks that this might make it too easy for the FBI to track just about anyone.
