WAP vs. i-mode

from the the-battle-for-wireless dept

I get the feeling there are going to be more and more articles like the following in the next few months. It compares WAP with i-mode to see which is better. They don’t come to much of a conclusion. What it seems to come down to is that people like i-mode better, and find it easier and cheaper to use. However, WAP has staked out enough territory already that it’s probably too entrenched to be ditched. I’m not so sure about that last statement on WAP. Considering the fact that most people I know can’t stand accessing the internet over a WAP phone, I’d have to assume that sooner or later companies are going to have to look for something better.

WAP

I just don’t see what’s the big deal with WAP. I do not see any large advantages to WAP. There is nothing that WAP will do that you can’t already do faster and with less hassle. Maybe it is me, but I look at it like I do a PDA. I think it is a cool idea and I want one, but I can’t think of a good reason to have one.
