ZDTV Becomes TechTV
from the changing-for-the-masses dept
ZDTV pushes on. One of the jokes around San Francisco has been that while ZDTV is based here, you can’t actually watch it here. Now, however, that’s apparently going to change. It’s finally getting included in the digital cable package and they’re trying to reach a wider audience by changing their name to TechTV. Seems like a smart move. I’m sure it will end up getting picked up by more cable providers.

What's wrong with ZDTV?
Why is the name change such a big deal? People don’t recognize Ziff-Davis? OK. But what’s in a name? I wonder how many people don’t realize what the MS in MSNBC stands for…
Re: What's wrong with ZDTV?
I’m sure there are a lot of people who don’t know what the ZD stands for, so there’s more of a branding effort. Besides the whole ZD label is becoming harder and harder to figure out, as different pieces of the company get sold off to different companies or people. TechTV is pretty obvious as to what it is.
