CNET buys Ziff-Davis: a jerk of the leash?

Like Slashdot, I’m increasingly worried about the consolidation of the computer media, My principal concern is what’s to prevent the investors from jerking the leash against a magazine or the website against the more outspoken or independent-minded journalists and columnists who are frankly outspoken against the received wisdom?” Also, here’s some thoughts on the merger from one of C(ZD)NET’s few remaining competitors: IDG’s PC World can barely hide their disgust about the deal.
