Tracking the Flight of Angel Investors?
from the not-really dept
News.com has this column today apparently about “Tracking the Flight of Angel Investors. It’s not at all what I expected it to be about. It is basically a fairly boring column telling us what an angel investor is. There have been articles like this for the past five years as people “discover” what angels are. What I thought the article might be about was some of the problems that have been popping up since this recent fascination with using angel investors as your first round investors. While there definitely are good angel investors, many are not “professionals”, and more prone to panic. I know a number of companies over the past couple months who have had their angel investors panic and pull out just because they’ve freaked out due to the market. Professional investors are supposed to understand risk and be a little less “flighty”. Wouldn’t it make more sense for professionals to be involved in the more risky seed stage investments?
