Living On The Edge

from the pushing-the-limit dept

It seems that a technology consortium of chip manufacturers and labs have banded together to save the silicon chip by devising a technology that will push present day lithography techniques to it’s limit, allowing smaller features in silicon chips . The technology is called Extreme Ultra Violet (EUV)and is basically is being touted as an extension to the theoretical limit of present day litography (which, we are supposed to reach by about 2003). It’s just another skirmish in our drive to keep up with Moore’s law.
