Giving games a little AI

from the were-not-just-playing dept

Most people have become tired of the promise of AI but a little known company called Cyberlife, is slowly but surely making advances. Probably one of their most well known products is a computer game called “Creatures”, the latest incarnation of this game includes advanced actual learning “creature” programs. The method by which this company achieves this type of learning is by using biological modelling of brain function (pretty complex stuff). They use the computer game sales to fund much heavier research, currently they are designing software that could automatically pilot fighter planes for the English government. In my opinion this company is a very important leader in certain areas of AI that could, in the near future develop some pretty impressive AI software.
