CMGI buys Tribal Voice

from the You're-not-a-real-portal-company-unless-you-have-an-IM-client dept

Well it seems that to be a full fledged portal you need an instant messaging client these days. CMGI just bought Tribal Voice and plans to release an AltaVista branded version of their PowWow client. They promise the client will be compatible with AOL Instant Messenger.

Yahoo, MSN, AOL, Lycos, and now AltaVista all have IM clients. Where does that leave Snap, Go and Excite? Excite has a client but I don’t know anyone outside of Excite that actually uses it.
