Barnes&Noble to Offer Same Day Delivery

from the finally-guing-the-pieces-together dept

Announced in WSJ today (will update when posted on free-access sites) that B&N will start testing same-day delivery of books in New York City. I’ve been pining for this for ages — two B&Ns on my way home, but since their web site can’t tell me that a book/DVD I want is in stock at any given store (and hold/deliver it), I just order from Amazon.

They’ll use bike messengers & delivery vans but only charge the standard delivery fee of $3.95 — same price as snail delivery, and far cheaper than the $10.95 B&N and Amazon charge for next day delivery. Update by Mike: Here’s the free News.com link to the same story.
