MP3s Legal For DJs in Canada

from the over-regulation dept

Okay, this was a surprise. First off, the idea that DJs are regulated by what formats of music they can play, and then that allowing them to use MP3s is such a big deal. I guess I never realized that DJs are expected to pay licenses for the music they play. This concept itself seems silly to me, as the DJs are helping to make a song popular which will increase the sales of CDs. I guess the music industry is so greedy they need a piece of everything.
