USi and Microsoft Make a Deal
from the vaporware dept
USInternetworking and Microsoft announced that they’ll be working together to offer Office 2000 for rental. This sounds a lot more like vaporware announcements coming from Redmond as they try to scare folks off from creating ASP type office solutions. I doubt much will ever come from this deal. In the meantime, Reginald Middleton the founder of a startup, NuoMedia has written to say that they’ve released a web based office suite, which is compatible with MS Office. I haven’t tried it yet, though it looks interesting. Would definitely like to hear from folks who have tested it out.

Nuomedia
I’ve tried Nuomedia and I like it. Initially, I thought it was slow, but I realized that it got faster every time I use – and now it’s just as fast as any desktop application I use.
I’m a consultant, so it’s very convenient to have my files on Nuomedia – so that I can access the files anywhere I can access the net, and I don’t ahve to carry my cumbersome laptop around.
