Buy.com Finally Files

from the took-'em-long-enough dept

Buy.com has finally filed to go public. The interesting thing was that they actually found some good underwriters to back them (Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns and Hambrecht & Quist). For a while the rumor was that none of the good names would back them for a variety of reasons including pressure from Amazon.com not to, and the way too public profile of Buy.com’s founder who has quietly disappeared into the background recently… Expect a lot of hype around this one, but still seems like a sucker’s play to me.
