Joe Firmage's New Gig

from the taking-lots-of-equity dept

As predicted by a few news sources, Joe Firmage is starting up a startup consulting firm/incubator with his USWeb buddies. They certainly got a lot of press for being one of about a million companies like this. Of course, the “price” seems extraordinarily high. They want ten percent of your company and they don’t put any money down. Considering most similar companies put money in and get between 2 and 5 percent, these guys better add significant value. Also, they force you to become a USWeb client, which might not be the best thing for your company. USWeb is good, but not to give you the chance to shop around seems pretty limiting.
