ZipLip – Another Web Mail Encryption Service
from the where's-the-third dept
When a net idea strikes, it seems to be the pattern that three companies doing very similar things show up at once. Now we have web based encrypted emails. First there was hushmail. The latest entry is ZipLip, and I’m sure there’ll be a third one soon. ZipLip differs from HushMail, in that the message never leaves ZipLip’s servers. It encrypts it there and leaves it there, and sends a note to the recipient telling them to pick it up. On arrival they need to know the password that you’ve set up for them. So, the one issue here is whether or not you trust ZipLip to keep your messages secret. Big issue.
