Over the last week i've watched a story about "google buying 4chan" go from an obvious parody site, get picked up by a reputable(supposedly) trade news aggregator as a snippet, and from there get reposted everywhere. People need to turn their bullshit filters up just a little bit more, and remember to check their sources before they hit submit.
I'm kind of loving it. Massive overreach eventually results in massive backlash.
There's a little voice in my head when i read these, it sounds like Cory Doctorow: "now you have two problems".
I wonder which will happen first, backlash, or a the judge having a ragegasm and popping a blood vessel because that damned interwebz won't bow to his will.
To be fair, a space mining consortium that came from "a couple google billionaires, a microsoft billionaire, and some astronauts", is likely to be the best chance of us ever getting out of Low Earth Orbit. Government is sure as hell never going to get us off this rock.
I for one would like to welcome our new/old Google overlords.
yes, not many stories mention it, because they do mention that the actual complaint is precisely the opposite. Publishers see amazon pricing as far to low, and say they cannot hope to compete with ten dollar ebooks.
That was the point i started laughing to hard to finish the article. Let them merrily piss off down the rabbit hole.
