Why did they suppress the study? i can only think of one answer.
Society for Consumer Research (GfK): You want answers?
Movie Industry: We think We're entitled.
Society for Consumer Research (GfK): You want answers?!
Movie Industry: We want the truth!
Society for Consumer Research (GfK): You can't handle the truth!
Society for Consumer Research (GfK): People, we live in a world that has the internet and the internet needs to be guarded by men with no scrupouls. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Mister Movie Mogul, We have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for the loss of a few dollars and curse the Pirates; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what we know: that the Pirates death, while tragic, probably saved money and that our existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, makes you money.
You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want us in the courts, you need us in every court. We use words like steal, cheat, pirate. We use then as the backbone of a lie trying to defend something. You use them as a supeona. We have neither the time nor the inclination to explain ourselves to a poor people who connect and steal under the blanket of saying they don't have the money, we provide you with a defense and then you question the manner in which we provide it. We would rather you just said "thank you," and spent on your way. Otherwise, we suggest that you pick up a computer and stand a gaurd. Either way, we don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to unless its more money.
Movie Industry: Did you order the study and suppress it?
Society for Consumer Research (GfK): We did the job you had us do.
Movie Industry: Did you order the study and suppress it?!
Society for Consumer Research (GfK): You're God damn right we did!

    Untruths

This is just a sham from the software company trying to blame the government for their bloatware, bad coding, costly upgrades, bad updates, etc... There is no way our intelligent intelligence organizations can and are this stupid and ignorant. Spitting, sputtering, coughing?..Oh wait for a minute I was drinking bad kool-aid again. They spin stuff like a bad out of balance washer.

Wow.Who woulda thunk that one stupid situation turns into a more stupid situation in this country of college educated people holding jobs.It seems just being able to remeber things to pass a test is all we really need to make good thoughtful quick judgements. Oh wait commen sense would have to be taught and tested but since that is something one learns by actually doing instead of having everyone do it for you. And this also proves that sometimes more than 2 heads are better than one. just because one has a head does not mean they have a brain that is used.

    revolution is brewing

They are afraid of what is coming. They are coming up with ways to keep the sheeple in line and this is how it begins as they take more and more ways to take liberty away and say it is for your own protection. It is just another part that can get added onto the patriot act that just got renewed again. Those in power are and will do anything to stay there.

ban all vactioning people and idiots

I was driving through Pa from MD on Friday and alsmost got hit head on at intersection while turning right because the four idiots from NY who were going golfing(followed them) turned from the other side in front of me because they were in a hurry. Then another driver from NY gets in front of me and is doing 35 in a 45 because he is watching his GPS more than the road and when we get into the small town we start doing 20 in a 35 and then he stops where it tells you to for the stop light but then pulls up the other road(about 20 feet up, you stopped back at the line so trucks can turn frommthe other road after leaving the dairy farm) and then sits there then turns right on red with 3 signs that say no turn on red and about gets hit. I have seen more and more people reading books, magazines, sudoku, crosswords, DVD's, phones, blackberry/palm, computers, and more while driving. The roads are becoming full of the type of people who think that they can do all of this and drive. We need to have a big wake up call and make it hard to have a DL and to keep a DL. Also if a truck driver needs a special DL how the people driving RV's do not. They are more dangerous behind the wheel than a truck driver. I seen a RV'er with a long trailer take out the gas pumps trying to leave a gas station because he did not know how to turn properly.

    goverment bites

I got two words for them...actually more and if they can not handle critics that post then they need to stop trying to be so politicaly correct and join the real world and grow up and get out of kindergarten and do their jobs and do them by the law and not by politics.

Re: Mike I do agree with you, but

when ilived in charlotte nc the radio station at that time was 106.5 and they had a show every weekend that did nothing but promote indie and underground and it was agreat way to find new stuff.Siruis did the same thing except they had a station that played it 24 hrs.

You would think that a state Attorney General might... you know... know the law, before threatening to put people in jail. The whole thing stinks of a politician grandstanding by displaying his own ignorance of both technology and the law... all while running for governor.

as a state AG he is 1 of 2 things elected or appointed as in both cases you do not need to know the law. same reason he can run for governor, does not need to know what to do just sound good to get the job. he sounds like the perfect politico.

    bleed the public dry

I used to have DSL in my house from the local telco and they offered different prices for different speeds.they had a great system.no matter the speed you always had it without limits.i do not know what they do now it has been 6 years since I had anything like that.I now use my sprint mobile since I travel everyday. I look at what the other countries of the world offer and I have got to say that the corporations in america truly know how to vampires when it comes to sucking the public dry of our hard earned money and then claiming we should like what they do for us.It is all just their way of justifing that big pay package to the CEO's.

    been there done that

i have had and dumped both services. When I had XM they never played anything I liked. Sirius played what I liked but more and more started playing commercials or censoring the music and when i asked why i was told at that time because some people did not want their children to hear some of the words. Well damn i am sorry but i am paying for uncensored music and if you don't want your children to hear it don't play it or listen to clear channel radio. Also the DJ's just don't shut up. I do not care where you are going for the weekend or what you did over the weekend or on your vacation. I paid to listen to music not you talking over the music.just tell me who the artist was and the name of the song. this is the very reason i do not listen to radio any more. i liked the services because i drive all over the country and did not having to always find a new radio station but i have learnd i do not need them at all.

    Money its a gas.....

As the song goes so goes the money and as we can see another way for the top 1% of the wealth to try and make sure it stays and continues to go to them. Damn the people that actually do the work and struggle through life.

    More Government More Cr@p

As we can see the more the government gets involved with helping the enabling of stupidity by a small majority of people the maore cr@ptacular it becomes for the rest of us. Wilmington NC did the switch between 3-6 months ago and all is going ok there. Why do we continue to allow the assinine hand holding of some instead of forcing everyone to get with the program. These few in the help me all the time category need to be spayed and nuetered for the betterment of all.

Re: I think a ban is a good idea

I am a truck driver and I can tell you that all people need to stop talking and driving. If you want to pass a law make it fit everything for the driver that causes distractions.I have seen drivers doing the following things at 60+ mph. reading magazines/books, doing crosswords/soduko, working on a computer, putting on makeup/tweezing/plucking, watching movies, playing games, and at times trying do more than just one of these things and talking on the phone. I have seen people using their knees/elbows/feet to drive. I see police officers running their mouth as they drive. They need to set the example if they are to enforce it.As for truck drivers they already have it bad, most of the companies that we drive for already tell not to be on the phone unless we are trying to get directions. If we have any type of accident they have the right to pull our cell phone records to see if we were on the phone.I think that if you are involved in an accident your cell phone records need to be pulled. I have had to avoid so many cell phone users because they all of a sudden realize they are going to miss the exit and pull in front of me.My truck does not stop as quickly as a car. If I hit them after this I am the one who gets a ticket and loses my job because I am called a professional. All distractions for a driver need to stop. You are driving a automobile and that is not the place to be trying your hand at some multi tasking. It is not a mobile office or anything else.

    greta article

As always something to think about from someone at Techdirt. The more I read on this site the more I realize that some people in this world still have a mind of their own. Most people have turned into the creatures from a game a long time ago about "Lemmings". They all follow the leader in a ring around the rosie no matter what they say(ie Rush Limbaugh, everyone in government,News casts, etc...) Everyone needs to start thinking for themselves and seeing all sides to issues and equations before making up their mind. Heres to more from Mike and everyone at Techdirt and to those of us out there that are also trying to teach/inform/educate or fellow humans to try and get them to join us in climbing out of the primordal ooze. A lot of commen sense would help and if everyone can not get on the band wagon in the crisis we are facing now it will be up to those of us that can run the bloodless revolution to make things right to drag them a long behind us kicking and screaming like the little children they are for their own good and ours.
