If the clothes at Gap don't fit
.and I get somebody to make one
    ..that fits
    ...it's not illegal
    ....it's NOT theft

I will then have pirated a copy and nobody will care.

Look at the latest royal wedding dress and how quickly that was copied.

The clothes industry was a really lousy example for her to choose really.

    Justifying Theft

Some kid stole a car. He got kneecapped by a bunch of overly helpful terrorists and then arrested by the police.

I nearly complained that it was a bit OTT but I didn't want to be accused of justifying theft. They said it would stop the kids stealing after all.

The name RIAA should be a dead give away.

    My name is Anonymous

And if I had to register, if I had to use a name, it would be the work of moments to be a named anonymous troll.

This cut would be deeper; once you accept the proviso that there should be no anonymity on teh w.w.web then you provisionally accept passports.

If you accept passports then it won't be long before you have to swipe your little barcoded tab to post an opinion.

We have IP addresses (your (apparently insufficient??) passport to the internet) already, if something I said is illegal you can find who I (probably) am.

This is a case of those who are in a tenuous position of conceptual power trying to make themselves harder to mock and a landgrab by those who are in power to remove dissent.

Sometimes I think that if America modelled itself on China it might be a bit more honest.

Which story is actually more important?

Importance is a relative term and not the same as popularity.

Justin has thousands and thousands of female fans who want to have his baby.
It takes a jump of understanding to link SOPA to Bieber, as evidenced by some of the comments here.

Ergo; baby fantasy wins importance stake as judged through the glasses of Google and the next Bieber may end up entertaining Baba.

"are causing Plaintiffs great and incalculable damage."

Obviously if someone presupposes 'incalculable' with 'great' then they haven't understood what it means not to be able to calculate an amount. Perhaps it is legaleze shorthand for 'lawyers need more money'.

'Plaintiffs will suffer irreparable injury for which they have no adequate remedy at law.'

No. Really no. It will be incalculable and irreparable until they are asked how much money they want to make it all better. One song in one nightclub does not construe an apocalyptic nightmare of unimaginable horror worth the income of a small nation.
