I'm guessing it was just easier to let them break a single hard drive which in no way contained the only copy of whatever data they had. I mean I make pretty reliable backups and most of my data is pictures of my cat. So I imagine if I had some super secret documents I'd probably make a backup before going through customs.
But yes it would have been, though I don't blame them.
PC master race exists because it's in every way better than playing a game on a console, even with DRM. And yeah, steam is drm, but it's also added some value to the whole system, such as a centralized location for all patches and updates, as well as a really decent modding community and a good community overall.
Two hours playing any team game on xbox live should invalidate any reason to actually use a console as the people that plays those games (I'm generalizing a bit) are bad at them and using a controller for FPS games is like using a weed wacker to shave your mustache.
Enjoy your limited frame rates and 12 year old boys, as that's what xbox is pretty much all about. It's a horrible platform, and you should feel bad about yourself for even using it. Oh man, I hope I don't have to watch the HR penis video again. It's bad enough it's only me and the director in a basement closet watching these graphic information videos on his iphone. I mean why do they have to teach employees about penises anyway? I could look that stuff up myself. But hey at least they always have those nice scented candles lit and all those chocolate covered fruits available. Oh plus all those comfy air mattresses. I wish my office was as nice. Oh well, at least it kills two hours every Tuesday afternoon. I don't quite get the "only bike shorts" dress code thing, but whatever. I will admit they are quite comfortable.
I'm going to write a book chronicling that time Linda Jaivin wrote a book chronicling the Russo-Japanese War period and then just give all the profits to Mike Masnick so he can establish a defense fund for when he gets sued by Mike Rodgers for calling him a jerk that one time online. fight the power.
