Having a business model is a part of doing business. If you don't have one you fail. Big suprise. Having a business model of make movie, sit and wait for money doesn't work.
Read Konrath's blog. It is a very rare author that gets the publisher to do stuf for them. Even if you are a decent author but not a bestseller you will get no extra support from the publisher. You have to do all the publicity on your own.
This just goes to show how encouraging a save me from myself society works. Oh I spilled hot coffee on myself, lets sue McDonalds for not telling me that the hot coffee was hot. Oh I shot myself in the foot lets sue Colt or WalMart for not telling me to not load then point it at my foot and pull the trigger.
It is not legal. The government cannot copyright anything since everything they do must be made available for public consumption (except where security is concerned).
You are wrong. It is perfectly legal to build an exact replica of a chair you bought. However it is not legal for you to sell that chair or give it away to anybody else.
