Start calling, vocally, loudly, and most importantly publicly for criminal charges, jail time, and immediate firing ~.
And it better be for a Class B/1 Felony. If they end up convicted, they should forever be barred from serving in any law enforcement capacity, in the military or for a security service. Also, no more second-amendment rights for them.
Hell, invent the new law of forcing them to register as a Psychopath Offender (PO) for the rest of their lives.
LOL. Yer cute. The verdict is already in: Manning is going to burn.
Expecting a government that jettisons its own laws when they are inconvenient, ignores 200+ years of precedent, and makes up enemies when no real ones exist to play by the rules is sadly ignorant.
Isn't this kind of thing better left to the private sector?
Sure, if you don't want a single standard.
Also, assuming that laws and standards should be left to a Ayn Randian "free market," sorry, "private sector" is pretty naive -- and a recipe for disaster.

They're doing it for the same reason the Stasi did it: to protect the state from the people.
Re: Re: Yes, real world is you don't exactly own those phones.
Quicher bitchin'! You don't pay the War of 1812 phone tax anymore, so just give it time and the 9/11 one will go away...someday.
Re: Re: Yes, real world is you don't exactly own those phones.
We didn't "let" them. They took/made those rights for themselves because our laws allow lawmakers to be "bought."
Citizens United was simply the icing on the cake. Go all the way back to 1886, in Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad Company, 118 U.S. 394 to when some clerk (may he rot in hell forever) wrote "The defendant Corporations are persons ..."
Ever since then, they've taken over nearly every right in the Bill of Rights, with no end in sight.
