With the SCOTUS, Congress, and the Executive all snuggly in the pockets of the largest corporations the only thing standing between us and total destruction is the League of Women Voters. Go get 'em gals.
Are they ancient behemoths trying to squeeze every last cent out of mountainous hoards of back catalog music? No?
Then their opinions don't matter.
Besides, I'm pretty sure all those signatories just want free music. I mean, I haven't looked into it but I have no problem demonizing those who have other ideas. It makes not listening to them much easier.
Now I'm off to cloak myself in the self-righteousness of paid-for laws.
"but in general"

The authors of the first amendment just wanted to download free music.
Tomorrow, a high-ranking TSA official will comment that approving this merger will most likely end the ban on liquids due to "awesomeness of business and just general goodness."
I think they are pushing so hard on this because they want to try to discourage individuals from leaking information in the future. Imagine if all the back-room deals, violations of the law, and instances of blatant self-enrichment weren't kept secret. The whole system would implode.
I think the answer is that the media gets special treatment because they determine, in a large measure, what citizens passively get to know about the government. Politicians treat the media industry well and good things get reported about them. In turn, the media treats the politicians well and then they get special laws and treaties passed for them.
I don't know why but this really rubs me the wrong way. They think they can just handle this law with the stroke of a pen? It's like they're groping in the dark for a solution. I'm touched that they would try but it just doesn't feel right. Take a peek guys, this is what naked ambition looks like.
Are suggesting that we should outlaw digital currencies?
Be sure to outlaw dancing there or people may get distracted.
I know several people doing very well selling $0.99 ebooks. They're eating the big publishers' lunch.
Lady Gaga just wants free music.
I can't wait to see the convoluted and obtuse gymnastics the anonymous coward squadron engages in to disagree with this article. Seriously, this is going to be awesome.
