No, if he's serious about Term Limits, he will work with State Governors instead of Congress themselves. As 3/5 of the States can create and ratify a Constitutional Amendment to Congressional Term Limits.

  • You Can Now Turn Off Ads On Techdirt

    Monarch ( profile ), 29 Sep, 2015 @ 05:17pm

    If your ads..,

If your ads on your page were as intrusive as some sites I've visited, I wouldn't even be here commenting on this article. No one should mind ads that are on the periphery, without pop-ups or trying to install some sort of ad-ware on your computer.

  • St. Louis Police Claim It's Their 'First Amendment' Rights Not To Protect Football Players Who Supported Protestors

Mike, stick to stories at least related to tech

    Mike,
I've been reading techdirt for over 10 years now. This is the first time I've been utterly disgusted with one of your stories. I may not have always agreed with your point of view on a story. I may have gotten the YAWN factor at many of your stories, BUT, I've never been disgusted by your stories. Are you just making crap up now, based on a statement by a UNION rep? Hell, I personally hope the police stay FU to the Rams and tell them to hire private security for the stadium. I hope the fans quit supporting the Rams. Yeah the players have a right to be idiots and morally bankrupt, but I don't want to have to deal with it on the field. The Rams owners should suspend the players without pay, or the NFL. But if they aren't, let's hope the citizens don't support the Rams advertisers.

  • Forget The Death-Star Anti-Mosquito Lasers, Here's How Nathan Myhrvold Can Help Tackle Malaria — And Improve His Image

    Monarch ( profile ), 04 Sep, 2012 @ 03:42pm

    OMG True Blood

"Perhaps conscious of this flaw, the page describes several other equally ingenious -- and equally impractical -- approaches to tackling malaria including the use of magnets to make mosquitoes explode and an "engineered blood substitute" to draw them away from humans (also useful for regions plagued by vampires, presumably.)"

OMG, IV's invented True Blood! Will we have vampires going mainstream now? And if they do, can we use Myhrvold's photonic fence to see if they sparkle? And, if they do sparkle, let's hope his death ray laser will get strong enough to burn the vamps to dust! On a side note, it would be cool, kind of a vanity bottle, to see IV's True Blood come in IV bags!

I just spotted an IRONY at it's most precious!

A video of a CHILD Breastfeeding with a warning: ("may not be suitable for minors").

From the quotes I've read attributed to her, I think she needs to start taking her meds again. Maybe she fired her shrink and accused him of being a pirate for prescribing generic drugs. Who knows, but she definitely needs those meds to make her close to sane.

  • Internet Addiction Might Actually Get Recognized By The Official Book Of Mental Disorders?

    Monarch ( profile ), 24 Feb, 2010 @ 11:14am

Sorry, can't take someone seriously who writes a line like this:
"Who knows, should the political tide turn Republican Senators might successfully plead they were not ruining the country, they were just suffering from "Anti-American Filibuster Addiction Disorder." "

Not that I like Republicans or Democrats, but how can a political group be ruining the country for forcing the government from passing a law which may help, but may or may not financially ruin the country?

As soon as I read that one line, all credibility is out the door.

  • Public Knowledge Pushes Five Point Plan For Copyright Reform

I like your idea, but I'd start at $100.00 and grow from there!

  • Record Labels Basically Admit That Statutory Damages Out Of Proportion As They Ask For Third Jammie Thomas Trial

    Monarch ( profile ), 15 Feb, 2010 @ 02:53pm

Please, OH PLEASE LORD, Let me get on that JURY!!!!
Because if I get on that JURY, the award will only be 3 times the actual damage done. And I'll even be generous, I'll use the newer rate of 3x $1.29 for each of the 26 counts!!!

AND.., I'll be so convincing to the other members of the Jury, that they'll feel like complete morons if they don't go along with me.

  • Universal Music Gets A New CEO… Who Thinks CDs Are The Future

    Monarch ( profile ), 15 Feb, 2010 @ 02:40pm

"I believe that the CD will out-survive me as a format," Mr. Grainge said in an interview.

I read the quote as this:
Lucian Grainge: "I believe that I'll be fired before the CD as a format will die."

  • Court Reduces Award In Jammie Thomas-Rasset Case From $80,000 Per Song To $2,250

    Re:

If I stole all those from Wal-Mart and got caught, I'd probably have a $200.00 some community service and probation. I think I'd rather have the misdemeanor on my record and the small fine and community service instead of a $50k to $2mil fine!!!

Basically Sarcastic-Mike, the judge is trying to limit the Artist expression / RIAA / license to steal to a more reasonable level, and even expresses he would like to lower the RIAA's license to steal even more!

  • If School Officials Got Confused By Kid's Science Project, Why Does The Kid Need Counseling?

    Monarch ( profile ), 19 Jan, 2010 @ 11:23am

Maybe it is being recommended they get counseling for the psychological distress they were subjected to by the school and local authorities? I would say I would need city funded counseling for my child and myself if I were subjected to that kind of abuse of power by the local government. Probably speak to a lawyer about a civil suit against the city for violation of my civil rights also.

    Re: Re: Whats next.

So should the bar pay royalties to the company that made the pool tables and dart boards? Should the bar pay royalties to the company that made the shot glasses and other glasses? Should the bar pay royalties to the liquor company for reselling it's liquor for a profit? Should the bar pay royalties for the fried food suppliers for reselling the food? Should the bar pay royalties to the icemaker machine company? Ect.., Ect..,

Come on the Bar makes money off of all those things! Why pay royalties (Welfare) to one supplier and not the others? What a F'd up system we have in this world!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Another story blown out of proportion

That's the point! There shouldn't be an outrageous penalty for licensing a KAROKE machine or Radio or Jukebox. The f'ing artists were already paid for the cd in the jukebox, the cd for the karoke or the radio. F'ing DOUBLE DIPPING IS WRONG!!!

  • Canada Also Getting Pushed By EU On Ridiculous Copyright Policies

    Monarch ( profile ), 18 Dec, 2009 @ 10:22am

    Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:

Shakespeare's work was ALL derivative! In fact it most of it was actually downright ripped off from other authors! Technically all Vampire movies are derivative of Bram Stoker's Dracula because he was the one that created the modern incarnation of what people think a vampire is. What if Bram Stoker's family would have had the rights to all vampire movies until 1962, or if it were +70 1982, demanding massive royalties. I could almost guarantee we wouldn't have had as many vampire movies, TV Shows, and books made throughout most of the 20th century.

You see, Copyright is a welfare monopoly! To me, Copyright should NOT be transferable, and SHOULD NOT be longer than the life of the author! Period! End of Story!

  • How To Respond To Criticism

    Monarch ( profile ), 04 Dec, 2009 @ 05:41pm

Did they actually address and fix the issues the reviewer had with the things? They addressed why it didn't auto power the boards in the video, but I didn't catch if they actually fixed any of the functionality missing from 2 to 3.

Guess I'll never know, as I have no need for programming microchips.
