This is a good article. So much marketing buzz in the wireless industry over inflates the truth about what is possible. Like you mentioned the need for all the backhaul to make it happen. The biggest issue for building large scale Wi-Fi networks is the business model behind them. No one is going to build them for free!
Being an integrator in the wireless industry the topic of safety comes up quit often. It becomes a point of education to those that do not understand what RF really is and is not. There is too much junk on the internet that is misleading and inaccurate.
