I fail to see how I'm profiting off TPB (or doing anything criminal) by downloading open source software or public domain materials. The only benefit to me is increased download speed versus other sources. Your reality and mine are obviously different.

Er, I mean to say 'Mike probably means', not 'they'. Anyway, I bet he's right and the trademark lawyers would try to go after them for that, no matter how silly.

I assume they mean generic in the way people refer to any brand of adhesive bandages as a 'Band-Aid' or say 'Xerox' for any copier. That just seems silly to me. Pez doesn't exactly have so many imitators that the name would become a universal term...

If Google were the one-and-only way to access content, I suppose I'd be concerned about my freedoms. But there are many ways to access sites, be it competing search engines, typing in an address directly, finding a link in someone other person's page, etc. Google is only removing access via their search, not controlling the entire internet. If they censor/remove links, that's their right.
