maybe if this goes mainstream it'll cut down on some of the stupid suites out there..
thought it would sound kinda funny having doctors sue their patients as a preventative measure against malpractice! interesting.
what ron paul has been preaching years. While the fed tinkers with rates and the money supply, the result is inflation that kills savings, which is especially harmful to retirees who no longer have income.
You cant even hedge against this either... if you invest wisely and "keep up with inflation"... you still pay cap gains tax on your gains.
The justification is that cheap money promotes faster economic growth by encouraging spending yada yada. But explain how stealing from any savings i have is anything different than just that: stealing.
two things:
-for now, i dont care which format, because I can download ripped movies from either! ;)
-downloadable movies may suffer if the broadband guys start implmenting pay-per-data formats, like time warner is starting to...
that being, my "every invention" system which generates every possible idea that can every happen. 99.99% of them will be worthless, but who cares. I can throw a joke module in and then proceed to generate every possible joke that could ever be created. pay me sucka.
i wonder how much benefit online communties have had in preventing suicides... being able to talk things through with your peers online...Im guessing has helped far more than hurt.
These people are using trademark infringement as a means to take away property from others. Trademark infringement is SUPPOSED to mean you are using markings or names in ways which could lead to confusion with another mark and lead a consumer to think you are, or are associated with, the other party. If i have a squatter site that doesnt look anything like myspace, then I am not infringing myspace. I dont know what this site looked like, but the only way they could be guilty is if it were obvious that they were trying to confuse people into thinking they were on the official myspace site. If they were doing this, they are guilty. But Im pretty sure they were not, and thus this case should never have taken legal property away and given it to myspace.com.
And thus i repeat, this is really scary. Trademark was never meant to be this.
So what if this dude's "business" was a traffic harvesting parking page... is that more or less legit than myspace? according to whom, the business legitimacy police? So since he was doing this before the other myspace.com came into existence, why isnt myspace.com basically stealing from him?
If you writeoff people as squatters and justify taking away their rights, dont be surprised when your rights are the next to go. scary stuff.
if their market is truly experiencing a .com bubble, then there is no such thing as money on the table since irrational exuberance can make the price be all kinds of strangeness. tripling was small taters in the .com days... and we'll see how badly it was mispriced if the bubble pops, too.
the whole thing is pointless because if obvious != obvious, there is no foundation for a patent system at all. If the courts cant man up and call some things obvious that really are, theres no point in even having the patent system at all.
Hmm. gives an idea though... perhaps like these domain name generators. what if were to develop a system that didnt try to come up with ideas, but simply compbined every known thing in existence with every other thing known, and with every possible known usage... and build a list of everything that could possbily be invented today. Put this on a website and let google index. Instant prior art for any possible idea.
But i just patented this idea, so sorry...
if more proof is needed of how @#$@#$'ed up the system is, check out the McQueen Machine - this dude just got a patent issued on a perpetual motion machine (invest today!!) http://www.mcqueenmachine.com/
angry, i own a collection of patents, and Mike is right. the system is f@#$'ed. if i want to defend one of my patents, which i spent many thousands to procure, the avergae litigation cost is several million. so as a small inventor, there is an icecubes chance in hell i'll ever be able to force someone from using my technology. on the other hand, ive had several companies issue C&D's to me for bullshit IP they claim to own. what choice to i have? i cant afford to defend myself, so i either pay huge licensing for BS or i quit producing this product. Meanwhile, these trolls are making the bucks by stealing from innovators. There is nothing good left in the system, and Im not even bothering getting any more patents.Ive lost years of my life to this stupid process and I hope they fix it someday, but Im not waiting for it.
and now...
several years later, i wonder what these numbers are like now ;)
