This is about copyright extortion, the other issue can be commented on in some crap reddit forum.
I come here to read and learn, the comment wasn't funny or creative; there are better places to post such content.
I am a Fed, but not working for the FCC. This behavior is so over the top that I don't know where to start. We are supposed to avoid any situations where it might even be "perceived" as a conflict of interest.
In my agency you would be walked out the door for such a stunt. I am speechless and he brings great embarrassment and shame to those of us trying to do the right thing and serve the public in a cost efficient and above board manner.
We would even be allowed to attend such an industry event if we had such a contentious issue involving our agency's mission if invited.
The fact they are making no bones about the fact that they are basically doing "quid pro quo" should ring alarms bells with the agency IG and OMB watchdogs.
Exactly, why bend over and kiss the EU ring. Their pain from not getting to Google will be far greater than the alleged pain their businesses are enduring.
They are foregoing the registration stickers on the license plates starting in 2017 as they are going to use the money saved to purchase more ALPR scanners and technology so they can flag you for expired registration via the ALPR database lookup in real time.
Great now every po-dunk town in PA with a police force will want this technology so they have a reason to pull you over.
I can just see the proliferation of self signed certs which will provide NO assurance that the communication channel is truly secure. The government is notorious for using self signed certs internally why would we expect the externally facing sites to do anything different?
This reminds of the days of the SCO hijinks and antics. Good entertainment while sitting on long conf calls; feel bad for the poor souls that are having to defend themselves.
Hopefully judge will grant them some relief by "loser pays attorney fees"?
Jeppesen (a division of Boeing) is huge in the flight planning marketplace. Their technology pre-dates FlightPrep.
Unfortunately for Flight Prep and fortunately for general aviation it is a pretty small community; I can't believe that this company won't be hurt by the negative publicity and commentary on their boneheaded tactics.
AOPA should weigh in on this.

Social media and the Trumptards
All the arguments here about FB having the right to allow/disallow content is spot on....but the bigger question is why use FB at all?
We got by just fine before FB existed.
I posted there, let's see what happens

Who cares, it's the EU.
Let the EU screw it up for their citizens, their loss; not mine as a US citizen.
This is a game of retribution for the EU missing the boat and not having their own robust tech industry.
Loser's weep, winners keep.
I do believe the EU will eventually fail in my lifetime, socialism always fails.

Congrats, best investment I ever made
I donated to your fund and I'm so glad to hear of your win.
I pray I never have to come to you for help....
Bless you.
Time for a constitutional amendment?
What's the likelihood that this gains traction in the USA to propose a constitutional amendment making privacy on par with 2nd and 4th amendment?
Fully aware that current and past administration wipe their asses with the constitution but it couldn't hurt.

Re: The thing is, it's not America
If not for America, you EU elitists would be speaking German and eating your biscuit and drinking tea in the gulag.
BTW, pay your fricking NATO bills or we will pull out, sit back, and watch Putin pound your arses.
Google should tell Brussels to go to hell and not pay the fine.
What a failed social experiment...I relish for the day the whole EU experiment goes "poof".
What about the other search providers?
Bing, DuckDuckGo, etc.
Seems like this is symbolic and very focused on Google.
I like the idea of just delisting all Canadian government web sites. Karma baby, Karma.
Give it to Kozinski in the 9th, this ought to be fun to watch him make short work of this non-sense.
I love reading his decisions and commentary.
Re: Let's fuck with Paypal
Just sent a 1 to my wife. Got this in return:
Your payment is being reviewed because of regulations. We'll send an email when it's complete or if we need more information.
Idiots.
Let's fuck with Paypal
Send a $1 paypal payment to someone. Put cuba and castro in the memo.
We could bury them in OFAC reporting hell.
PA is going all in with the ALPR technology
I live in PA, this state is a bit screwed up.
Here is a news story to support this comment:

Sometimes technology sucks.
And the feds will screw this up

Maybe I should start complaining about CenturyLink
Rural PA, DSL only, I wish I could get 4 Mbps minimum.
Heck I'm lucky if I can get 3 Mbps on a good day and if the stars are aligned. And I am buying extra for the 6Mbps plan.
CenturyLink! You listening???
I worked with her.
I got out of DHS in April 2012. Couldn't deal with the ineptness and waste. Went back to civilian work.
She was one of the rare professionals in DHS. I worked with her on many Privacy Impact Assessments and Privacy Threat Assessments.
She gets it, unfortunately there are too few of her types in the federal workforce.
For the NSA (good luck on reading this):
