Re: Re: Running bet .... The RULES

I would say 100,000 simply because they will buy that many themselves to make it look like a success and just carry it off the books. But, I don't think it lasts 6 months.

But then again, it could be a Pet Rock and who knows then?

And they are going up agains Page 3?

As long as the Sun has Page 3 for free and all of the rest, then I think this will go the way of AOL and the Dodo for now.

How much price testing was done? I think none...

Murdoch is a smart, smart guy, but he is not perfect.

    Pulling a Dish

This is pervasive, at least in American culture. The same thing goes on with our Politicians here and in Business.

For instance they spent 700 Billion with a B and said it created 50 x the amount of real jobs they were claiming.

When the new regime was pressured for answers about it, they pulled a Dish i.e. they got defensive and acted like the people asking the questions were being idiots and how dare they. LOL It does not matter if some jobs were counted 20 or 30 times or that each new job could also be an old job, or that it cost 4 million for each new $50,000 job or something silly like that.

Be it Politicians or Dish, when they get busted, they act like the person asking a common sense question is the one who did wrong.

Both will find out that you can fool some of the consumers some of the time, but you can't fool them all of the time.

To all of the Dish's out there, lying, or pulling a Dish in the day and age of the Internet is a truly foolish thing to do, as not all consumers are as stupid and plebeian as your elitist minds would believe.

People will vote with their pocket book and at the ballot box unless they are forced to do otherwise by those very same people that pull a "Dish". :)

True but it has been like that for at least 8 years

While I agree with you and have to agree with Craig of course. :) This is not new.

There have been a rather large underground group of Authors that have sold eBook only books and laughed at the money that even best selling authors make. I have met at least three dozen that make over $250,000 per year, and several that make over $1 million online.

Now that market will become available to the less tech savy, less marketing inclined authors out there. This is a good thing.

    The Real Dope

It is any wonder that Capitalism is misunderstood? Most of Europe is under a Socialism or Quasi Socialism government. And the US is going that way at a rapid pace.

Free Market Capitalism has been demonized as what it wrong with the world by most politicians, despot, and evil two bit dictator the world over, when point in fact it is the only thing that is right.

Capitalism threw off Russia's yoke from Poland and destroyed Communism, and Fascism, and Slavery.

Logically this can be proven in about a minute. But ignorance is the tool by which those that want to control people to get those same people to go against it and their own self-interest.

Capitalism can't be defeated by any other way other than by the sanction of those it can help the most who have been brainwashed into believing it is bad for them.

Kind of like when a witch doctor convinces someone with an infection that penicillin is evil medicine. Same level of stupidity and ignorance in both cases.

But he bemoans the fact that he can't figure out how it works. But is it really his fault? I don't think so.

Do they teach any classes on Capitalism in regular Schools, and let's not even mention in Colleges? Of course the answer is no. Let's remember the adage, Those that do, do. Those that can't teach.

Left wing socialist loons flock to the College level teaching profession and thereby ignorance of Capitalism is perpetuated.

The media supports that Evil Capitalist theory as well.

Capitalism is the only system that does not depend on hand outs. It depends on the unforced cooperation by two people exchanging true value of one kind for another.

In this case, a small bit of money in exchange for the pleasure of listening to music.

Capitalism is the only system where Big Brother does not force you to do this or restrict you from doing that by regulation with threats of fines, imprisonment, and ultimately at the end of a gun.

The only thing that I have to say is that guys like that make it easier for guys like me, my clients, and all of the rest of us that do understand it.

It is unfortunate that he blames the lack of profits on everyone else and not on those that are clueless about how Capitalism really works.

Also, I will say that if he really wants to profit from Music, go buy some stock in Apple as iTunes "gets" it.

There are many Indy bands in the US that are making boatloads of money selling their own tunes on their own websites. And, they are making far more than if they had signed up with a major label.

The Music industry as a whole is clueless about what is really happening.

Free songs help it, not hurt it but you have to understand how for it to work.

They are much like those in the transportation industry in the 1900's that bemoaned Horses being replaced by Cars. The smart ones switched over, while the whiners complained about it and went out of business.

Capitalistic Darwinism at it's finest! :)

Does he have to stay ignorant? No! It is simply a choice that he or anyone like him makes.

Here is a great resource on Capitalism. http://mises.org/
and a wonderful speech on Money and Capitalism.

    http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=1826

There are lots of Dopes out there but in this case, he needs to hold up a mirror.

But, he only has to stay a "Dope" if he wants to. A potential Capitalist is a terrible thing to waste.

Hopefully he won't choose to stay ignorant forever.

    Contradictions Do Not Exist

When faced with a what appears to be a Contradiction like this, you have to check your basic premise and the facts. One of them is wrong, either the premise or the facts.

In this case it is the premise that the people currently in charge of the US government want people to start businesses, want to attract other entrepreneurs, want small businesses to succeed and flourish. Yet, they do everything possible to not make this happen apparently. Hence the Contradiction.

But there really is no Contradiction. They don't want any of that. The mistake is in the premise that they want Entrepreneurs to flourish here. If they did, they would not being making it so hard on small businesses by taxing and regulating them to death.

They think that Capitalism is the problem, not the solution. Profits are evil and they have a right to any profit that they deem excessive (which means all profits). Even though they have done no work for it, taken no risk, they feel it belongs to the Government and "they" know what the fair thing to do with it is better than those evil Capitalists that made it.

If you look at it from that standpoint it makes perfect sense and hence there is no Contradiction. This may sound crazy but it is true. The simplest answer no matter how bizarre it may sound, is usually the correct one.

If they truly wanted to revive the economy overnight and see a boom like never before, they would put a moratorium on takes for all businesses for just one year.

This would cost 1/3 of what the last stimulus package cost. The economy would take off overnight, unemployment would be down to the 5% of people that don't want to work and the revenues to the Government the next year would be triple what they were and continue.

Pretty much anyone with half a brain could figure this out. But here again, they don't really want that to happen. If they did, they would be doing something different.
    Hence, the premise is incorrect.

I have to add though that with friends in the UK, they said we have no idea just how bad the Red Tape is there compared to the US.
