neither buy nor download music, just listen to radio. could not answer the poll, i suggest a revision
Imbalance in poll numbers
There's an imbalance in this poll, in that it compares ALL THE MUSIC you download to ALL THE MUSIC you buy. It's not really a fair comparison because there is a lot of music available for download that does not jeopardize anybody's copyrights -- in particular, "boots" or audience recordings of concert performances. In addition, there are sample files made available for download, e.g. on amazon.com, and also by new bands, which give away their music in order to obtain publicity. If I download a bunch of these types of music but still buy CDs, am I threatening anyone's copyright?
A better comparison for the poll, then, would be the amount of COPYRIGHTED music you download versus the amount of COPYRIGHTED music you buy.
why I download more than I buy
I see downloading as a filter for whether or not I buy an album - so yeah, I download a lot of things I think may be good, but turn out to be crap so I don't buy the album. I've wasted too much money on buying CD's with only one good song on it so that's why I do what I do.

You don't have any option for I throw out most of what I download because I am unimpressed
Mike! New poll already!
How about Which failed Dot Com company do you miss most?
WebVan
DigiScent (iSmell)
Kozmo
etc.. (I'm sure you can think of more than I can)
Poll revision: none of the above
As the first AC stated, "neither buy nor download music." I've been boycotting record companies for about 2 1/2 years now.
The question is, how long do you keep it?
I download a lot of music, listen to it for a few weeks, and then delete it. Anything good enough to waste valuable disk space on is worth buying on CD.
But with the horrid state of radio these days, I make my own "radio" with mp3s, reguoarly rotating them to listen to new and unique music to suit my whims.
