EA is to late. Because of all the anger and hate when SimCity 3 launched that is how people are going to remember it. First Impressions last and all that.
We will see how true it is in a few days. If the feds suddenly start screaming and hollering about spying, aiding terrorists, and how they should throw the book at someone (but not CNET! they are after all a 'serious' news agency), then yes, it was a real internal memo. If it was a deliberate leak by higher ups to try and hoodwink criminals, then we will never hear another peep about this since they don't want the possibility of debunking information getting brought up.
They are the Library of Congress and they have a mandate to archive anything and everything they can get their paws on. Why doesn't the head Librarian just say "F You!" and archive it anyway? What are they going to do.. sue the government for doing their job?

They must want Google to allow others access to their search formulas so they can 'prove' that they are fair, never mind the fact that they would be giving away company secrets like that.
The EU Commission are fearful that Google is going to push a US based and foreign company that has relevance to the search to the top and push down a local EU company. But then again, I'm just a user, what do I know?
So all of you who are complaining that The Journal News shouldn't have published this information and because it could cause issues.. why weren't you speaking up when they started compiling sex offender lists and publishing those and releasing smartphone apps to show who is on the list in the area you are in at that moment?
Two different acts going on there. Lending the disk to your friend is perfectly fine. His act of copying the disk is a totally separate act that needs to be looked at.
51? So we did infact do what I had told all my friends.. add Iraq as the 51st state? Or are they counting one of those little islands out in the gulf/carribean?
I find it amusing that they are using their 1st Amendment Rights to unfettered Political Speech to try and run roughshod over their 1st and 4th Amendment Rights.
I read your first paragraph.. and was wondering who in the world polices a theater while dressed as a character from Stargate SG-1? :) Then I followed your link.
"We shouldn't be handing out massive monopolies, worth hundreds of millions of dollars, based on the arbitrary judgment of some random patent examiner, when it appears that there is no objective standard at all, but rather a series of (historically bad) guesses. That's no way to build an innovative economy."
"Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony."
Re: OKAY, at last you admit that "pirates are gonna pirate".
"2nd anyhoo: once the blocking is in place, it becomes just a matter of adding IP/host name to the database, can be rolled out automatically, and will be, so the end of proxies is in sight. VPNs can be shut down by following to last known exit. Deep-packet inspections will easily shut down those who UPload beyond a certain ratio. -- In short, obvious measures WILL work well enough, so you pirates can expect your plundering on the net to end soon."
The fact that censorship and DPI seems to be perfectly ok to you scares the shit out of me.
