Not a terrible sound, either. Good to see that good music is being combined with inventive marketing campaigns.
They are selling music, just not a physical CD, and they are performing live. :B
Sweet. Zombieland sequel.
This is another one of those Techdirt stories that I almost have to refuse to believe is true. I keep reading and reading and yes. They are accusing someone of patent infringement because something they patented was used as a plot device in a movie.
Does this mean Dodge can sue the makers of Vanishing Point? (sure, that was probably paid product placement, but still)
Let's abolish the radio so that he, and people like him can't spout their bullheaded opinions.
LOGIC.
I really wish these network head honchos would realize every time they take a clip off Hulu, or make a limitation on it's release, I'm not just going to smile and wait until the DVD comes out so I can give them money. I'm going straight to SurfTheChannel.
The frustrating thing about that is I'm TRYING to give them ad revenue! I'm trying to support the shows I love! But I also want to watch them from the comfort of my computer.
As Jon Stewart would say, "BE A F*CKING PERSON!"
Where did I ever state that it was immune to criticism? I said it's a DRM that works(for the most part), and Mike hasn't given it the credit it deserves.
No. no I'm not. I've never heard complaints that could even begin to compare with the litany of complaints with any other DRM service, and I myself have never had any problems as I've used it in the past few months.
CoD 2 came out in 2005. When you're claiming a decades-long dedicated fanbase, at least make an effort to look up when a game came out.
Oh, and the Half Life series' mod community puts CoD2's to shame.
Okay, say you had paid for said book already, I'm pretty sure you can do that. You still don't blame the bookstore because the publisher is putting arbitrary limitations on release.
Point out the part where I said it was immune to criticism. I said it was good. That's it. Mike's beaten up on it at every chance he could get, even though anyone who's used the system (despite obvious exceptions) has given it glowing reviews, and it's doing a LOT of things right.
Steam is a damn fine system. It's flawed, but it's light years ahead of anything else on the market. Mike, look into other digital distribution outlets for games or game DRM services, then get back to us on how a Steam is horrible. One publisher delayed ONE game on ONE service? Would you write a post if your local bookstore was a little late getting a book on the shelves because the publisher decided to make an arbitrary limitation on the sale of the book?
Would it work for a band called Pi?
I find no. 11 really interesting because it really shows that in monetizing online content (newspapers come to mind) you can never rely on people to buy your product, even if they in a poll (or another kind of feedback space) say that they would.
With that in mind I'm seriously considering the DMCA takedown shirt, but I'm pretty strapped for cash right now.
I wonder when this will finally cease to be news.
Boldfaced lies and propaganda. I like how they focused so much on camcorders. Cam recordings are so rare, I'm surprised they were even mentioned.
Correlation=Causation FTL.
Idiot.
Remember, guys. Copyright law is important, because it protects artists. And child molesters.
