How stupid does he think we all are? Pretty stupid, apparently.
He didn't know anything about the IRS targeting political conservatives, he didn't know anything about the Fast & Furious gun running, he doesn't know anything about HIS OWN ADMINISTRATION, does he?
Either (a) he's telling the truth, which means he's completely incompetent and worthy of the title bystander-in-chief and should be removed from office, or (b) he's lying and broken the public trust multiple times very publicly, and should be removed from office.
It's like my friend once told his 9-year-old nephew when he caught him in a lie:
Jack, you shouldn't lie for 2 reasons: (1) it's wrong, and (2) you're just no good at it.
Something like this is LONG overdue. I approve. Although I agree Holt's bill is probably better, this is a good start.
There must be a SHITLOAD of angry people out there (besides us techdirt folks) calling their congress critters for them to actually stop trying to sweep it under the rug and actually start doing something about it.
Here's hoping all the pro-nsa assholes in congress don't water it down so as to be completely ineffective.
The DOJ right now is IMO where you and other investigative journalists REALLY need to plug the enema bag into. They are at the heart of and/or complicit in every scandal plaguing Obama:
* green energy fraud a la solyndra - where's the investigations?
* wall street train-wrecking the economy - same question
* IRS used for political purposes - same question
* NSA spying - same question
* Fast & furious - same question
All of these are major scandals that DOJ should be investigating/prosecuting but they're not doing a damn thing. Instead they're busy hounding "little people" like Aaron Swartz, Weev, etc.
Eric Holder and his cronies should be fired/impeached/indicted/whatever for abject dereliction of duty as attorney general of the US. And the DOJ needs to be shamed, publicly, severely, and often to make this happen.
Best comment I've read in a long time, and you totally hit the nail on the head. Why should the employee show loyalty to an organization that would throw him/her under the bus as soon as it was deemed the expedient thing to do?
Sometimes if I'm shopping for something electronic, I can find it cheaper elsewhere. But if it's not much more, I buy from Newegg because (a) their consistent good service and (b) I support their fight against assholes like this.
