At first read, I did not to find any issues with your piece, Mike, if I may call you by your first name. However, on second read, I noticed the words "this opportunity" in the quote you pulled out of Chamber's statement. This phrase seemed unconnected with anything you quoted. So I reluctantly opened their statement myself, and lo and behold, in context, this phrase actually makes sense. This is what was omitted from your quote:

With a young population where over half a billion people are under 25 years old, Bollywood as well as Hollywood are experiencing growth that may be far outpacing the Indian economy. With an eager and growing workforce and multiplying diaspora overseas, creative content may edge its way up to be India

If my math's accurate, a game that fills one dual-layer DVD would take about two and a half hours to download on a 60MB/s connection. That still beats Amazon's best time, without costing any extra for priority shipping; hell, for a lot of people it probably beats the time they'd take to get to the game store and back.

And that kind of size is restricted mostly to the big-name, big-budget outfits who are throwing money at pure eye-candy, usually to make up for the fact that their game has sod-all else in the way of unique selling points. Smaller outfits willing to settle for lower-tech visuals don't often break the 1GB mark.

An excellent piece of defending without admitting:

Even Mike starts by hedging: "Google appears to be"...

Mike's italics: "Google is arguing that the perception that it's opened up its network to the NSA".

So there you go! All just a mis-perception of what Google says are "false or misleading reports in the media".

One of the benefits of weaseling is that it's difficult to expose, because no matter what the outcome is, the weasel can argue techicalities to always end up right.

I expect that as this suit drags through the courts we'll incidentally learn for sure that NSA does have access to Google's number crunchers, but that Google isn't lying now because it's not "direct access" to their "servers". Or some further narrowing of "users". In any event, don't expect Google to just flat out admit it's a spy agency.

Denying forever is totally consistent with Google being a spy agency. As is this court case: it's good publicity now, could always get decided (or be maneuvered so) that they must keep it secret, and even if ever the truth emerges, no worse of damage. So if you game this out, it says nothing.
