I feel sorry for people who buy the Sodastream if they are thinking its going to save them money. If you look at the cost of the consumables $40 for CO2 tank it carbonates 60L then the syrups average $8 they make 12L. So 1 CO2 cylinder plus 5 syrups will cost you $90 after tax (13% sales tax here) that breaks down to a cost of $1.50 per litre. Thats more then the cost of the major brands charge and in some cases double.

Also the Sodastream does a bad job when it comes to carbonating it only carbonates at 15psi. Many sodas need higher carbonation levels such as colas they are better served at 30psi.

Like Rekrul pointed out there are many cheaper ways to build a carbonator and you can buy the syrup from many sources. You can even buy your favorite Coke or Pepsi flavours if your willing to pay the premium price. My rig cost me $20 it consists of a CO2 bike pump and a tubeless tire valve.

So tell me...when authors on Techdirt gripe that an entire niche of the video game market is declining due to some asshole trying to curb piracy by making selling a used game cost prohibitive...even though the discs they store games on are made to make it nigh impossible to back up or copy them...that they are somehow shilling or advocating piracy?

Here's the GODDMNED scoop ace...the reason why most of these games on the previous generation were so successful is that people could trade in their games, that they have finished, for others to enjoy. When you take away the ability to do that through a cost prohibitive fee, you are basically killing your own success. Not only does word not spread so quickly about how awesome the game is, but the used game market makes it more affordable to enjoy games.

> But Disney will say that since the astronaut is (more than
> likely will be) American, and so will the rocket and lander,
> that US style copyright law does apply.

Disney can say whatever it likes. Doesn't make it true. The fact that a person is an American citizen doesn't mean U.S. law follows them around the universe wherever they go. A U.S. citizen can go to Amsterdam and legally smoke pot even though it's illegal to do so in the U.S. Likewise, a U.S. citizen could go to Mars and copy, play, and sell (if there was anyone else to sell to) the entire Disney DVD library and no law would be violated.

Despite the recent delusions of grandeur by a few Justice Department officials, U.S. law only applies in the U.S. It doesn't even apply 20 feet over the border in Canada. Why the hell would it apply on Mars?

To claim otherwise would essentially be claiming that the U.S. Congress has the legal authority to bind the entire universe with its laws, and that's laughable on its face.

I'm not sure Nintendo is really stupid enough to do that to its fans. The Nintendo fan base is by far the nerdiest (saying that with pride) and most demanding (and most dangerous to fuck in policy from the corporate level) quality because we expect all aspects of quality from them. This includes customer service.
So what are people not attracted to in a console?
1. Requirement of always online to play single player...Nintedon't
