"The visual fidelity and feature sets we expect from games now come with sky high costs. Assassins Creed games are made by thousands of devs. "

a perfect example of why Cliffy was a great PR guy for Epic but why he is despised as a producer etc.

Cliff, the days of Carmack vs. Sweeney and peoples infatuation with graphical fidelity are long gone. Im surprised a study has never been done showing how players, after no more than 15 minutes, cease to pay attention to graphics and concentrate on gameplay (an attribute that seems to be sorely lacking in most AAA games nowadays).

Much like the movie and music industry, most of these astronomical costs can be attributed to maintaining a management model that is wholly unnecessary. Luxury high-rise offices, outrageously expensive PR spending, management bonuses and perks, departmental redundancy etc.

You might want to pull your head out of your pampered ass long to see that a handful of guys working out of their garage, brown bagging lunches and a little help fro kickstarter are producing AAA quality games for under a million.

Mike and Tolles against AG investigating Google for antitrust.

From the Google link: "Texas' AG was "investigating" Google for antitrust violations" -- NOTHING CAME OF IT, evidently (or Mike would run it endlessly), but these two pro-Googlers are against the very investigation, and pooh-pooh any basis for it because Google's targets were too small.

Tolles dropped something he calls the "priority review program", which sounds like paid shilling. But he doesn't admit anything could be wrong with it. And Mike as usual claims it didn't gain much money. -- That's one of Mike's standard defenses: unless you're really raking it in (much more than millionaire Kim Dotcom, manifestly), then obviously all is perfectly legal.

Anyhoo, when more than one AG comes after you, it's just possible that you're engaged in fairly obvious fiddling. So I don't at all believe Mike and his pal Tolles there.

Nor here. Mike has the view that statute is a shield, that it legalizes what's against common law, where I see statute as ALWAYS suspect, an instrument made by criminals for criminals, and usually against the public good. Mike doesn't do common law or morality: he's railing here against "moral panics", one of his standard phrases.

And Mike is always looking for ways that obvious criminality can be shielded or excused. Thus, his position that "safe harbor" protects file hosts with obvious infringed content on their site, and from which they gain money.

"Nothing in this Motion is intended to confirm or deny that Google has received any order or orders issued by this Court.
Of course, that might lead some to suggest that Google can't actually have standing, but there's an interesting legal argument here. Basically, Google is arguing that the perception that it's opened up its network to the NSA, as suggested in various reports, and which it cannot refute fully without revealing some details of FISA orders it has received, has caused it harm"

Actually, its posible that by confirming they receive FISA requests (and specifically FISA requests) they would actually violate the gag order and therefore be sanctioned without the merits of the case ever being debated.
