It isn't about just the content of the book or my reading it, rather the concern is the effects of that book on society as a whole and certain impressionable members who may choose to act differently after reading it.

Like I said in an earlier post, censorship is always about what others can't handle. It's never how "this book will turn me into a monster", but how the book will turn others into monsters. Such arrogance!

I would seriously hope you'd attempt to learn the law properly, especially after the last article.

In a civil trial with no jury, the judge is judge and jury. And when it comes to admitting evidence, he is also investigator...a judge is in charge of reviewing all evidence. If he simply accepts documents and testimony with no overview, he is failing at his job.

The extra money penalty is punishment for 1) completely and utterly failing to follow proper channels for such things, and 2) to enforce the deadline.

Yet again, if Prenda chose to follow proper legal procedure they might have received a stay. If they posted bond at the deadline, there would be no additional fines. But they failed to do both, despite what proper procedure and basic common sense should tell them.

Mr. Cooper was NOT a party to the case in Judge Wrights courtroom. He was a 3rd party asked to appear and offer testimony. He or his lawyer are not being paid for those appearances.

In the MN case, Cooper filed alleging they stole his identity and to hold them accountable for that. As the Prenda train derails someone would have attempted to sue Alan Cooper who signed the copyright transfers for the shell company and Mr. Cooper would have been left holding the bag for a company he knew nothing about.

She literally did NOTHING to help Mr. Cooper, because she failed to read and understand Judge Wrights order and predecided that Cooper was a bad guy like the other people.

I disagree with your assessment of FIRE. They support things like students' right to put up an "obscenity wall", and I can't see the right wing throwing their support behind that. I also see on their site an article supporting a university's "sex week" and the use of student fees to fund it without the students being able to opt out. If you read the article, a Republican state senator is opposing it. I guess FIRE's conservatism is just really, REALLY stealthy?
