No, Google is NOT saying that. Yet their system is more than capable of keeping URLs out of the system that are listed in the robots file so there's no excuse why they, as a supposed security advocate, shouldn't honor robots.txt instructions.

But you keep mentioning security in connection with robots.txt. If you acknowledge that it's not a security measure, and Google doesn't say it's a security measure, why are you still talking about security?

Also, why is this a big deal? I'm not trying to defend Google, I just really don't see why it's important. Can you explain it?

Anyway why don't you jot us off a quick three page summary of the changes in international maritime law over the last 10 years. Make sure to get all the details right!

It would only eliminate centralized sources. Only sites and links would be gone, but there would still be tools out there that don't rely on fixed links and sites. There are pure p2p tools that aggregate their indices without a centralized server or link. They peer the index to fellow peers and the user searches through the index for content. No servers, no link required. Tools like Tribler make this possible. Once these tools are published, there's no way to make them disappear. The internet never forgets.

They could close down The Pirate Bay every other p2p site, but the genie is out of the bottle. There is nothing they can do short of shutting down the entire internet that will stop sharing of content. Since that will never happen, they're just pissing in the wind. It's war is over, they lost. What's left are some flailing corpses unwilling to accept the fact that they are dead.

I predict the glasses with the built-in camera will be the end of this.
I do think Reverse Domain Hijacking is a new concept, but I think I understand it.

A normal domain hijacking takes place before a legitimate owner can take control of a domain.

Here, the domain was being used legitimately, & they even offered up one they had, but didn't need, for free. But Ron was trying to hijack both anyway.

The problem comes in that we normally think of hijacking the way Reverse Domain Hijacking appears to work: taking from a legitimate owner.
