I got an EE degree from a CSU system school in 4 1/2 years that I paid for myself with a part-time job and modest living. I had a decent apartment. Cheap cars (biked mostly anyway). I was married 2/3 the time and had a kid the last year. No student loans (wife also) and I got a degree (she got a degree in Mol. Bio) with which I could get a real job afterward. Of course, only half the courses I was forced to take meant anything to me or my career path. What will cut down on tuition cost and debt is not forcing students to take at least three semesters worth of classes they'll never need.

As a parent of 2 students at Enloe High School I can tell you it sounds simple and perhaps sounds like an overreaction. During the "battle" I was receiving text messages from my kids and their was a real feeling of panic in the school. Although WCPSS states it was just water, the word in the school halls was that some of the balloons were filled with bleach, Nair and urine. The idea of being hit with a balloon filled with bleach was pretty scary.

Enloe High School is a large school in a "disadvantaged" area of Raleigh and has a reputation of "problems" gangs, drugs etc. It is also a very highly respected magnet school that is pretty over crowded with mobile trailers added to the campus to make room for more kids.

So when you look at the situation as a whole. 2500+ kids in a building with several punks throwing waters balloons rumored to be filled with bleach, Nair and urine you are looking at a very volatile situation that could easily lead to something very serious.

So while I understand that is sounds outrageous to arrest the kids for water balloons what they were really arrested for was the chaos and disruption of the peace and safety of the high school campus. After all the real terror situations we have seen on the news over the last few years it is understandable why schools and police work together so closely to keep our kids safe.

I do not believe in zero tolerance policies as they leave no room for common sense but I also do not believe anyone should be allowed to yell fire in a crowded theater just to watch the fear and chaos take over. There needs to be a middle ground but I'll be damned if I know what it is.

(A) Is for lower taxes for everyone, not just the rich. In fact, he believes the income tax rate should be 0%.
(B) Believes the federal government should be shrunk down to it's original size and enumerated powers (which would fix the debt problem).
(C) Is the person speaking out the most about the fact that a private cartel of banks manipulates our currency for the benefit of the wealthy, politically-connected class.

Simple question guys...

Hollywood obviously knows they don't own any rights to this movie. Please explain why you're defending their DMCA notice so vigorously. If they can abuse the law to their advantage, then it isn't really fair, is it?

Are you seriously expecting us to believe that there's no ulterior motive behind this? I challenge you to provide a single LOGICAL justification for the notice.

(Ab)using the law for revenge isn't a mark of civilized society. It's an abuse of the system that they seem to have gamed in their favor....and revenge isn't an acceptable justification. You don't take down legitimate content as "payback" (if you think that's a valid argument, then please point out the appropriate section of the DMCA where it provides this).

We'll wait.

Yeah, I call it like I see it. Apparently, others see it my way as well, jackass.

Concerning your link, did you read the following?

"A counter claim or counter notice cannot be used to defend against or as a defense to a Takedown Notice."

Wonderful language that FURTHER screws the entity receiving the notice.

"Once the service provider (ISP/OSP) has received a valid DMCA Counterclaim or Counter Notice they must wait 10-14 days before they re-activate or allow access to the claimed infringing content."

So the original author's work is taken down for AT LEAST two weeks. Where's the penalty for Hollywood acting like the assholes that everyone perceives them to be?

Nice try, bob. We all know how this works, and no amount of spin that you try to put on it is going to help. You can't polish a turd, bob...I mean jackass.

Geez, people, get over the notion that "libertarians" are some alternative to the ongoing neo-con fascist takeover. Yeah, Ron Paul has a few notions that sound good on the surfce, BUT he helped foster the "privatizing" of gov't, took restraints off bankers, voted to lower taxes on millionaires on the notion that riches "trickle down" instead of are "stolen up" from labor, and "paid" for those tax cuts by saddling the poor with endless phony debts. His further loony ideas would privatize the commons that the public owns: water, roads, and so on, until your every action outside of (maybe) your house, is effectively taxed and controlled by corporations. -- At best, Ron Paul was in Congress for 30 years and didn't change anything useful.

Being intolerant of a KKK member is usually nothing to do with being racist, unless you are a black power activist. As a 'white', me despising the KKK is about detesting bigotry and intolerance. However, I wouldn't automatically say 'racist' if a black friend didn't like them either.

I agree with most of what you are saying - I think we're coming at it from different angles. However, appeal to some sort of authority for assistance is one thing, having to blindly obey authority is another. Whilst you Americans have an admirable 'can-do' attitude, sometimes it seems you are a bit knee-jerk for or against when it comes to authority (and in some people in both directions).
