European Buyers Down On 3G Phones
In a research firm’s stats on second-quarter handset sales, buried was the news that European buyers aren’t too hot on 3G handsets. Apparently people aren’t interested in exciting 3G applications like video calling — surprise surprise. This same argument has been made for several months now, and operators still haven’t figured out a real compelling application for 3G beyond cheap voice. Without having some clear benefits for 3G — and communicating them effectively to potential buyers — people don’t have much reason to upgrade.
