Txting For Literacy

from the it's-all-good dept

For years, we've been hearing complaints that kids who were growing up getting used to "txting" language were going to be terrible in basic language skills. For the most part, that's proven to be completely unfounded, as kids (amazing little people, aren't they?) are mostly smart enough to understand what's appropriate at what time. These days, in fact, text messaging may even be improving literacy as we're hearing more and more stories about publishers trying to get kids involved with books by using text messaging as a communications channel between book authors and fans.
