Forget Dead, Now Bluetooth Saves Lives

Watch the hype pendulum swing: after Bluetooth has been hated in the media for so long, now it's being credited with saving lives. British scientists have come up with a portable brain scanner that could help stroke victims, which sends data to an onboard computer in ambulances. For the BBC, this apparently translates to a "Bluetooth scanner 'stroke hope'". But just like so many of the stories on either side of the hype scale involving Bluetooth, this one's a little misguided: does it matter that the device uses Bluetooth? It's just a transport technology. Of course, it begs the bigger questions, like what happens when the ambulance gets a Bluetooth virus?
