Making M-Learning More Like M-Gaming

With the computer solidly entrenched as a part of modern education, people have been talking for a while now about "m-learning", using the mobile phone as a platform for education. While it seems a bit of a pipe dream to think that a mobile phone could ever replace the good ol' school, KDDI in Japan have launched a subscription-based application to teach people English. It uses a good approach that treats the lessons like casual games: something that can be easily used in bits and pieces, whenever the user's got a few moments to fill. While this approach might not be suitable for more rigorous academic work, it does seem to be an ideal model for general non-academic learning.
